Date Cake (Khajur Cake)

Baking a cake is really magical. You can make different cake with different flavors. Last week I tried this date cake.  I wasn’t sure that how would it taste? But it was delicious! It includes just basic cake baking ingredients with date in it. So I recommend to give it try!


All purpose Flour – 2 cup (300 gm)
yogurt – 3/4 cup
vanilla extract – 1 tsp
Baking powder – 2 tsp
Baking soda – 3/4 tsp
Dates – 1 cup (130 gm)
Water – 3/4 cup
Sugar – 1 cup (200gm)
Butter –  120 gm
Salt – pinch


In a mixing bowl beat 1 cup sugar and 120 gm unsalted soften butter with hand mixer until it becomes light and fluffy.

In sauce pan boil 1 cup deseeded dates in 3/4 cup water for 5 minutes and make a puree in a mixer then add it into sugar and butter. Add 3/4 cup yogurt, 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix again. The wet ingredients are ready.

Now add 2 cup of flour, 2 tsp baking powder and 3/4 tsp baking soda and combine the cake batter.


Bake the cake for 35 minutes on preheated oven on 180ºC/350ºF. and check after 35 minutes by inserting a skewer. Once it is cool down completely, garnish it with honey and walnuts 🙂
